meet the student pastor

Hello! My name is Sam Rapp and I am so thankful to serve as the Student Pastor here at Christ the Redeemer. Check out this page to get to know me a little more. Let’s connect!

Middle and high school can be a confusing and crazy time and yet filled with incredible joy and growth. Redeemer desires to step into those great years to walk alongside students helping them know they are not alone by providing worship gatherings, gospel-centered teaching, guidance, and friendships.

Sunday evenings

We believe that the gospel enables us to enjoy life in a way that nothing else can offer. Redeemer Student Ministry serves as a weekly reminder of that truth. Our Sunday evening gatherings are 100% Gospel-focused. We will begin our time with fellowship, followed by games, music, teaching, and small groups.

All students in grades 6-12 are welcome. We have small groups for girls and guys, all of which are organized by age and gender.

When: 6:30 pm-8:00 pm, Sunday evenings each week
Where: Student Chapel

Mission

We exist to develop a community of grace and truth that helps students see they BELONG in the Kingdom of God, they can BECOME like Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit, and they can BE SENT into the world to make disciples.

Vision

When a student graduates from Redeemer Students, we hope they will:

Believe that saving faith comes only from God moving toward them in their brokenness.

Find rest in the love and grace of God for them in Christ.

Love and Trust the Word of God.

Cherish time spent alone with God in prayer and solitude.

Serve in the local church for a lifetime.

Learn to become a disciple-making disciple in whatever context God calls them.

Core Values

GRACE

The Christian life begins with and is sustained by grace alone. Therefore, we are free from striving to earn our own righteousness and can rest knowing that the God of the Bible is a God who moves toward broken people and broken places (Eph. 2:4-5, John 4, Psalm 103:8, 2 Tim. 1:9, Romans 3:23-24).

SCRIPTURE

We are a Student Ministry that will always stand upon the Word of God as our final authority, and we will consistently teach expositional messages through books of the Bible (Hebrews 4:12, 2 Tim. 3:16-17, Psalm 119:9, Isaiah 40:8, John 8:31-32).

THE CHURCH

We desire to instill in our students a desire and recognition of their need to be an active member of a local church, especially after high school (Heb. 10:25 & 13:17, Acts 2:42, 1 Cor. 12:12-14).

FAMILY

Parents are the primary influence on their children, so we want to partner alongside them to lead our students most effectively (1 Tim. 3:4, Eph 6:1-4, Proverbs 22:6, Deut. 6:6-7).

DISCIPLESHIP

Jesus Christ did not send us out to preach the Gospel for converts, but rather to make disciples. We want to be a student ministry that grows young men and women into disciple-makers (John 8:31-38 & 13:34-35, Matt. 28:16-20, 2 Tim. 2:1-2, Acts 1:8, Romans 1:16 & 10:14-17).

VULNERABILITY

In Christ, we believe that we are fully free to bring our true selves when we show up to Redeemer. This means that we want to create a safe space for students and leaders alike to wrestle with the hard questions that naturally show up in a life of faith (Gen. 32:24-29, Psalm 88, Matthew 26:39, Mark 9:24, John 4, John 20:24-29, Jude 22, Revelation 3:20).

In order to ease the transition and bridge our children into Redeemer Students (6th-12th grade ministry) we have Mix45 fellowships and gatherings for them. Mix45 are quarterly fellowships for 4th and 5th graders to be together in a fun and exciting environment allowing them to begin to transition out of Redeemer Kids, get to know our student pastor, and meet a handful of older students in Redeemer Students.
